comment-comment yang tak membina, no thanks. today's the 2nd day running in a very very very long time that the little terror finished up both her porridge meals, mashed fish and all! so i'm happy beyond words, coz you see, i get all these jibes about me curbing her food intake and not allowing her to taste everything there is out there.. and things like "try giving her fried chicken, i'm sure she'll finish it! she probably thinks what you cook tastes like crap!" is so unneccesary. i have ideas in my head with what to retort to your unwelcomed comments, but i'm nice like that.
30 October 2008ah, who cares?! she finished everything i cooked for two days straight! let me bask in happiness! and this, i received in the mail.. Are You Ready To Have Kids? Test 1 Women: to prepare for maternity, put on a dressing gown and stick a beanbag down the front. Leave it there for 9 months. After 9 months remove 10% of the beans. Men: to prepare for paternity, go to a local chemist, tip the contents of your wallet onto the counter and tell the pharmacist to help himself. Then go to the supermarket. Arrange to have your salary paid directly to their head office. Go home. Pick up the newspaper and read it for the last time. Test 2 Find a couple who are already parents and berate them about their methods of discipline, lack of patience, appallingly low tolerance levels and how they have allowed their children to run wild. Suggest ways in which they might improve their child’s sleeping habits, toilet training, table manners and overall behaviour. Enjoy it. It will be the last time in your life that you will have all the answers. Test 3 To discover how the nights will feel: 1. Walk around the living room from 5pm to 10pm carrying a wet bag weighing approximately 4 - 6kg, with a radio turned to static (or some other obnoxious sound) playing loudly. 2. At 10pm, put the bag down, set the alarm for midnight and go to sleep. 3. Get up at 12pm and walk the bag around the living room until 1am. 4. Set the alarm for 3am. 5. As you can’t get back to sleep, get up at 2am and make a cup of tea. 6. Go to bed at 2.45am. 7. Get up again at 3am when the alarm goes off. 8. Sing songs in the dark until 4am. 9. Put the alarm on for 5am. Get up when it goes off. 10. Make breakfast. Keep this up for 5 years. Look cheerful. Test 4 Dressing small children is not as easy as it seems: 1. Buy a live octopus and a string bag. 2. Attempt to put the octopus into the string bag so that no arms hang out. 3. Time allowed for this: all morning. Test 5 Forget the BMW and buy a practical 5 door wagon. And don’t think that you can leave it out on the driveway spotless and shining. Family cars don’t look like that. 1. Buy a chocolate ice cream cone and put it in the glove compartment. 2. Leave it there. 3. Get a coin. Insert it into the cd player. 4. Take a family size packet of chocolate biscuits; mash them into the back seat. 5. Run a garden rake along both sides of the car. Test 6 Get ready to go out 1. Wait 2. Go out the front door 3. Come back in again 4. Go out 5. Come back in again 6. Go out again 7. Walk down the front path 8. Walk back up it 9. Walk down it again 10. Walk very slowly down the road for five minutes. 11. Stop, inspect minutely and ask at least 6 questions about every piece of used chewing gum, dirty tissue and dead insect along the way. 12. Retrace your steps 13. Scream that you have had as much as you can stand until the neighbours come out and stare at you. 14. Give up and go back into the house. 15. You are now just about ready to try taking a small child for a walk. Test 7 Repeat everything you say at least 5 times. Test 8 Go to the local supermarket. Take with you the nearest thing you can find to a pre-school child. A full-grown goat is excellent. If you intend to have more than one child, take more than one goat. Buy your weeks groceries without letting the goat(s) out of your sight. Pay for everything the goat eats or destroys. Until you can easily accomplish this, do not even contemplate having children. Test 9 1. Hollow out a melon 2. Make a small hole in the side 3. Suspend the melon from the ceiling and swing it side to side 4. Now get a bowl of soggy cornflakes and attempt to spoon them into the swaying melon while pretending to be an aeroplane. 5. Continue until half the cornflakes are gone. 6. Tip the rest into your lap, making sure that a lot of it falls on the floor. 7. You are now ready to feed a 12-month old child. Test 10 Learn the names of every character from the Wiggles, Barney, Dora and Bob the Builder. Watch nothing else on television for at least 5 years. Test 11 Can you stand the mess children make? To find out: 1. Smear peanut butter onto the sofa and jam onto the curtains 2. Hide a fish behind the stereo and leave it there all summer. 3. Stick your fingers in the flower beds and then rub them on clean walls. 4. Cover the stains with crayon. How does that look? Test 12 Make a recording of someone shouting “Mummy” repeatedly. Important: no more than a 4 second delay between each Mummy occasional crescendo to the level of a supersonic jet if required. Play this tape in your car, everywhere you go for the next 4 years. You are now ready to take a long trip with a toddler. Test 13 Start talking to an adult of your choice. Have someone else continually tug on your shirt hem or shirt sleeve while playing the Mummy tape listed above. You are now ready to have a conversation with an adult while there is a child in the room. Test 14 Put on your finest work attire. Pick a day on which you have an important meeting. Now: 1. Take a cup of cream and put 1 cup of lemon juice in it 2. Stir 3. Dump half of it on your nice silk shirt 4. Saturate a towel with the other half of the mixture 5. Attempt to clean your shirt with the same saturated towel 6. Do not change, you have no time. 7. Go directly to work You are now ready to have kids. Labels: 1-2yrs, baby d, babymakan, mommyzine tateh to ibu.. dearest dahlia,
20 May 2008was it just last week that we had that private conversation about taking time growing up so fast? home alone three days ago, we were tumbling in bed and when i had to have a pee break you held on to my leg and let out the softest mews unwilling me to leave you alone just for a bit. so i tied an imaginary knot in my bladder and continued tumbling around with you, playing peekaboo and tickledoodledoo. not 5 minutes later i REALLY had to go so we held hands and i placed you in the bathtub while you watch heh. then we held hands again out to the living room just in time for your favourite mickey mouse show on 34. i sat on the floor while you stood, still holding my hand. when the hotdog song came along i slowly let go of your little finger and you amazingly stood still the entire hotdog song! so i inched backwards and let you stand by yourself till you realised, and you shot me the "ibu i'm falling!" look. and that's when i pointed both my index fingers up and said "ok dahlia.. wait.. wait..." and you waited! you pointed your own index fingers, then took a few steps in front.. your very first confident steps! three days later, a few minutes ago ayah beamed with price looking at you toddling all over the room at Lola's :) and ibu? ibu had to take a moment and wipe her own tears coz she can't believe her baby's all grown up. we love you Baby D :) check out her professional u-turning lol. dont mind my ghastly outlook, i had my Peserta-peserta Mencari Teman dari Variapop 1993 garb on for the night heh. Labels: 1-2yrs, baby d, milestones, mommyzine, theBoy she turns yeight! i long for long-er weekends please. they should have like 4 days of vesak day or something la seriously.
11 May 2008we lounged at home on saturday morning, the boy left for his shoot at noon and we rolled in and out of bed. i started streaming friends when i was on maternity leave, and finished off the last episode of season 10 with d last saturday. took a nice 4 hr nap with her on our bed, woke up with a jolt at 6 and immediately roused her from sleep and got ready to leave for Pameran. spent about an hour at Pameran chingchong a bit, and then to wati & meraj's chalet at changi cottage, where while crawling on the wooden floor upstairs, she rolled to her side and konked her head for a bit. ![]() sunday morning woke up to news that mummy is warded for a blood clot on her right leg. the boy left for his shoot again at noon and as soon as d woke up from her nap and lunched, i hauled her in the bjorn, met lipglossy and sarah @ yishun mrt and led ourselves to marina sq. main aim was to test drive a lightweight stroller that i can fold and open with one hand. and that's the combi well comfort. the damage? $450. the boy will kill me la. hate late lunch/early dinner at secret recipe, walked around a bit, mimi showed me the way to hip carry using the hotsling (i still fail, i need a bigger size!!) and then the boy picked us up and headed to the hospital to visit mummy. met up with The Noons there and then supper at bedok corner. damnit i'm craving for a good oyster ommelette now :( monday morning after her first feed i brought her out for a nice sunny walk and checked out the temporary cold storage tentage in front of y10, and it sucked. only managed to get pumpkin and sweet potato for d's consumption. thought of heading to k.palace but looking at the time it was only 9.30am. took a cab back to our place, YES cab coz it was so freaking hot. got back, fed her breakfast and as she just plonked her head for her nap i received smses about a last minute gathering at one of the sept07 mummies' place! So while most of the others were already making their way to blue's place, I was waiting eagerly for d to wake up from her nap. at 12.30 i realised if i ever wanted to make it to blue's place i needed to make some noise so she'll wake up heh. and so i did, we got ready as fast as we could and zoomed off to bishan. ![]() these are from darmae :) ![]() ![]() ![]() the girls, minus shy Yan. d was busy clapping. ![]() the boys with half a zac who was sleeping on his dad's lap twas nice meeting up with these ladies who i've been talking online with for a year plus, at least. the babies got along very well! we should have another meetup soon :) left for nurul's at 3ish, nurul made maggi goreng, huda the VERY capable ANAK DARA made crabstick and cheese wantan and fruit salad and me, brownies with chocolate ganache. after the feast we sprawled on the floor with d, the weather was just too hot to handle lah! drilled huda 'da princess' a bit heh heh. happy 8th month, my darling. i love it when you clap on cue, or when you see us clapping. 8mth old and clapping, masyaAllah! last night i lay beside you and watched you sleep with your pursed lips like your ayah, your eyes half closed even though you're deep in sleep, just like me. i ruffle your sweaty head of curls and place my finger in your hand and realised the three days spent with you were priceless. i wanna do it all over again :) Labels: 6-9mths, baby d, babyfriends, milestones, mommyzine mak-mak 08 May 2008 and then there's more.. speaking of milestones..
d has been doing these for a few months. - opening and closing of fingers when we sing twinkle-twinkle little stars - same opening and closing of fingers when we sing malay nursery 'cekur genggamit' - twists her wrists (like a 'finished/no more' action) when we sing malay nursery 'neng nang neng pong' - turns to look at her ayah when asked where's ayah - takes a peep when we play peekaboo with her - acknowledges the word 'mimik' (home word for milk) when she's thirsty and we ask her 'd nak mimik?' she'll cry or goes 'mimimimi' heh Labels: 6-9mths, baby d, milestones, mommyzine stand by me ![]() ![]() pa made d stand for about 2mins a few nights ago against the wall. she made the eh-eh-eh sound and spread her arms against the wall to balance a bit. my whole family were holding our breath at any movement she made heh. it probably was the longest 2mins of her life :P I hate it when random jacks and jills label d as naughty. If it's strangers calling her a naughty baby, I'll just say flatly "Maybe she doesnt like your face." -_- But but but, I have this evil sense of satisfaction when people wanna carry her and she cries or reaches her arm back out for me. A 'sick' kind of syiok feeling? Comprende? Hehe. in other news, i had the juiciest unagi sushi last night from Giant Tampines. yummeh. Labels: 6-9mths, baby d, chowtalk, mommyzine clap your hands! d's not sleeping well tonight. the fever she got on sunday is gone, highest was thismorning at 38.4. i left for work with the heaviest heart, felt like shit and wished i could stay with her. but fever's gone now. it's the nose that's acting up at this moment. she's been whining and whimpering in her sleep, wants to be carried and lulled to sleep, give and take 10mins after you settle her in the cot she'll stir again to cry and asked to be carried. and even though you know it's just a runny nose you can't help but feel like shit (again) when you see your baby helplessly trying to get comfy with the hingus meleleh and all.
28 April 2008-_- work's a rotten tomato, that's an entry for another day. runny nose aside, this weekend she made me proud by clapping her hands on cue when i belt out If You're Happy And You Know It Clap Your Hands!! so her clap doesnt really generate a piak!piak! sound effect, but the fact that she puts both palms together to do the clapping action means.. she gets what i mean!! *beams happily* Labels: 6-9mths, baby d, milestones, mommyzine, siquebaby naked clip abang ujay, the boys' from themephoto's reason to smile at work, got married over the weekend. bless him, can't wait to hear the pitter-patter of the little peoples soon, let's gone! hehe.
21 April 2008sunday we made a pitstop at wak yah's new place. the usual kecoh chachahemoh of my aunties, it turned into a makcik² hearquarter with the super powers of all the makciks combined, my uncles playing football at the field in front and my nyai, my sweet nyai who sulked over the fact that we have not visited her for a long time. "mak, my grandmother marah i you know!" i sulked to my mom when she came with abah. "padan muka! tu lah, mak cakap no jalan, now your grandmother dah marah, very good!" >_< i should treasure my nyai more. we excused ourselves with the sister in tow for a spot of shopping at vivo. the agenda was a purple dress for d, girlie maryjanes for d and shoes for myself. omg it's so difficult to find a purple dress for a 7mth old, can?! we saw one, by Carter's which was !@)#&!)#!! 69.90! crazy nia. settled with a fox top instead. i say top coz i bought the 12-18mth size so it'll look like a dress, ok. no shoes for her, no shoes for me. chilax with faiz (and his new 800bucks phone!!) and sheila at pac coffee, fed baby d her dinner and she got a new clothe book from sheila. the aftermath of a semisolid feed would always follow on with a clothe-change so i took off her tshirt and then she decided she'd like to go half-naked instead. -_- ![]() ![]() did you see that? I MANAGED TO CLIP HER HAIR!!! so happy i almost cried! felt like i won first prize for topping the class in pri 1 heh heh Labels: 6-9mths, baby d, mommyzine octopussy this post is not intended to brag about my multitasking, but more of a post to look back at when i'm old, not so mobile.. i wanna remember that i used to be able to do the following last saturday

21 February 2008![]() 11th and 12th march, happy 2 years anniversary, sayang. i love you and i love dahlia. ![]() ![]() 13th march, 5 years ago someone said "let's go for a car ride!" if that'd happen, would we have happened? ;) my dearest girl, i've been waiting ever so patiently for the weekend of 15th and 16th of March to come, because we'd be starting you on rice cereal for the first time. unfortunately, you'd gotten the fever and the PD advised against feeding you solids during this course. the weekend was spent sponging you down, playing with you and your toys.. and even though you're feverish, you're still the happy giggly baby that you are :) ![]() your favourite pastime with ayah ![]() you've mastered the art of sitting ![]() you flail your arms excitedly when kakak alysha jokes with you ![]() you reach your arms out to me when i do so with mine, you are indeed my special one :) happy 6th months sayang. ibu and ayah loves you too much. get well soon, we're heading to malacca this weekend, k! Labels: baby d, events, mommyzine, my chad 5 months, baby! happy birthmonth! well actually i was supposed to post this on Monday but we know what happened on Monday, and Tuesday we were too busy rolling around in bed with you accompanying me watching Friends on the laptop while you gnaw your itchy teething gums on your teether :) you've made my heart race more times than one, because you've had this irritating cough and runny/blocked nose for 3 weeks. we've been to the same PD twice (we now know we should head to the crowded one.. because the deserted one ain't that good) and your cough still persists. it has already been a few times that you started crying once we got in the car, and that's left me wondering where i've gone wrong. but we do just fine midway, you'll be glued to my left shoulder, snoring softly :) which reminds me, we HAVE to train you on the carseat soon.
on Saturday we had brunch with Ayah at T3, and scooted off to the end of Changi Beach, where you releked one corner in your pram while we sat on the bench enjoying the fullspeed breeze, when all of a sudden out of nowhere a jetplane from the nearby Airshow rehearsal flew by a tad bit too low for your liking. i'll never forget how i saw you jerk in shock, and i carry this guilt of mine for stupidly not holding you in my arms knowing there's a possibility the planes will be too loud for you. that same evening, shy of a few hours after Ayah left to meet his friends for the evo launch, i decided that your cough is a bit worrying (then again, i worry at everything!) so i made a call to Ayah, and he zoomed back to fetch us to KKH a&e, abandoning his plan to enjoy himself at the launch, and drift beside some takashimaya racecar driver person. later that night, after having to pin you down for an xray to be taken, you cried out loud and vomitted all over me.. something we've been wanting you to do, because vomitting out the phlegm will definitely leave you feeling better. let's digress. i started this post with the word happy, and happy we are! you've started to recognise common people now, especially your nyai. when i'm holding your hands while you stand, and your nyai hides behind me calling out your name, you'll turn left and right to search for her.. you even look around excitedly when you hear her walking with her houseslippers :) when your Ayah comes home, you air-kungfu excitedly and ramble on and on about how your day went, or how kakak alysha's nonstop chatter irritates you. i love it when you remember to flip the page on your exersaucer, that you push our hands away when we're holding you upright as if you're ready to stand on your own, when you're in your yai's arms and refuse to be passed to another person because you love your yai so. happy 5 mths, darling :) we love you.
